The Eggners Ferry Bridge (Hwy 80 across Kentucky Lake) in the rain, Day 1 of the Loop.
Day 2 on the Loop
Leisurely morning. About 8, went to Marina for complimentary coffee and cinnamon rolls.
The sun is shining this morning and it feels so good even though the temp is only 47 F. Calm water today. We met this tow.
I look out the window and saw something in the water up ahead. It looks like a fin and it's moving toward the middle of the river. We get close and realize it's a deer swimming across. Can you believe it? As we got closer it turned around and swam back toward shore. Too cool. Can't believe we didn't get a picture. We'll have to have the camera at the ready from here out.
Then we hear on the radio that a fellow looper is towing a raft because it can't fight the current. It looks like Huck and Becky are out for an afternoon cruise.
Arrived at Clifton Marina, mile 158.5 on the Tennessee River, about 5:00. We walked into town, just for exercise. Nothing was open but a great evening for a walk. Back at the boat, we talked to Joe of Carolyn Ann then I went in and started dinner. A glass of wine and all is good.
Day 1 on the Loop
And we are off! It's a cold, rainy, windy day, but we are too excited not to go.
There are whitecaps most of the trip and I'm wrapped in layers including a blanket. It was too rough for the auto-pilot so have to steer.
We met the Pelican tow pushing what looked like tanker barges.
Docked at Pebble Isle Marina, New Johnsonville, TN. Still windy, but Jerry did an excellent job of docking. Had lots of help tying up. Met Joe and Punk on the Carolyn Ann, went to the Marina Restaurant with them for dinner.
Back to the boat to unpack, still pretty disorganized, but we are so happy to be on our way.
